Annette Loschert -
Annette, who was named Executive Director in May 2003, has been involved with Literacy Volunteers of Roanoke Valley since 1998 when she became a tutor with the program. Annette's background is in academic and volunteer administration. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 1999 and was named Basic Literacy Tutor of the Year in 2000. Annette is excited to be part of a team that contributes selflessly to celebrate the transformation that occurs as our learners move through the Basic Literacy and English-as-a-Second-Language programs. She looks forward to creating new opportunities for the most important people in our organization - our learners.

Susie Boxley -
Susie is the Adult Education Programs Manager for Literacy Volunteers of Roanoke Valley. She comes to Literacy Volunteers with a background in Family Literacy and substitute teaching in both private and public school systems. She has a business degree with a passion for adult education. As a first generation American on her father’s side, she is aware of the ESOL needs in society.

Bill Van Velzer -
Bill is LVRV's part-time Adult Education Programs Coordinator. He comes to the program as an experienced public school teacher with state endorsements in history and social sciences and gifted education. Bill has traveled extensively throughout Europe and North Africa, where he experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of living in foreign countries. He says he feels fortunate to be working with ESOL learners because of their high degree of motivation and positive attitudes. "Teaching ESOL learners is definitely a two-way street," he says.

Karin Warpula -
Karin's current stint with Literacy Volunteers is as a part-time office manager. She took a hiatus from the program for a couple years after having served as both office manager and ESOL Program Coordinator. Now she's back and better than ever.
