Asking and Answering Questions using Statistical Information

Objectives:

  • The learner will restate sentences as "How many?" and "Is there?/Are there?" questions.

  • The learner will define vocabulary in Civics Unit Essay 1.

  • The learner will practice reading aloud using the Civics Unit Essay I sheet.

Duration:

 

     2 hours

 

Materials:

Activities:

  1. Teacher introduces Civics Unit Essay 1 and associated vocabulary.

  2. Learners take turns reading essay out loud as a paired activity.

  3. Teacher models restating of sentences as questions using Civics Unit Essay 1 sheet.

  4. Learners complete first portion of each section of the Asking Questions assignment, sharing with partner when completed.

  5. Paired learners complete second portion of each section of the Asking Questions assignment.

  6. Learners compare answers as a whole class activity. 

Assessment:

 

Teacher visually checks learner work for completeness and accuracy.
