Speaking with Healthcare Professionals #1

Objectives:

• The learner will write a dialogue for the doctor's office or over the phone using health vocabulary and appropriate questioning formats. 

Duration:

     2 hours

Materials:

• Asking Questions#1 sheet

• Asking Questions#2 sheet

• Colored markers

• Doctor dialogue sheet

• Healthcare vocabulary

• Patient dialogue sheet

• Poster-sized sheets of writing paper

Activities:

1. Individual learners choose to be a doctor or a patient, and write their half of a dialogue between doctor and patient using the vocabulary on their respective sheets. 

2. Learners pair up and collaborate on a complete dialogue for the doctor's office.

3. Learners conduct peer reviews of each other's work.

4. Learners perform their dialogues in front of class.

Assessment:

Learners discuss and evaluate each dialogue.
