Filling Out a Job Application  

Objectives:

• The learner will complete a sample employment application with 100% accuracy.

• The learner will define all unfamiliar vocabulary.

Duration:

    2 hours

Materials:

• Sample job application, Workplace Plus 3, Joan Saslow, Pearson Education;2003, pgs. 151-52

Activities:

1. Teacher distributes employment application, explaining its organization. Learners complete the portions they understand, making a list of unfamiliar vocabulary. 

2. Learners define vocabulary using dictionaries, translators or the teacher as a resource. 

3. Learners complete remaining portions of application.

4. Learners use vocabulary words in sentences. 

Assessment:

Teacher monitors learners' work for completeness and accuracy, providing corrections where necessary.
