More Life and Work

 

Objectives:

  • The learner will correctly pronounce all idioms from the "On the Job Idioms" list and use correctly in a sentence.

  • The learner will write and perform an 8-12 line "on-the-job" dialogue using at least two slang terms and two idiomatic expressions, and express a "like" or "dislike" about something or someone at work.

Materials:

Activities:

  1. Teacher distributes "On the Job Idioms" list. Learners practice saying "all of a sudden" through "get in touch with" and the sentence associated with each term. 

  2. Teacher assigns paired learners two terms; learner pairs compose a new sentence for each term and share with class.

  3. Learners practice saying "have (nothing) to do with" through "would rather" and the sentence associated with each term.

  4. Teacher assigns paired learners two terms; learner pairs compose a new sentence for each term and share with class.

  5. Learners complete "Match the Idioms" worksheet and correct.

  6. Learners complete "Life and Work" worksheet and correct.

  7. Paired learners write an 8-12 line "on-the-job" dialogue using at least two slang terms and two idiomatic expressions, and express a "like" or "dislike" about something or someone at work. 

  8. Learners perform dialogue for the class.

Assessment:

 

Teacher monitors verbal and written responses, offering corrections to grammar as required.
