Crossroads Cafe: "Who's the Boss?" Act 3

 

Objectives:

  • The learner will correctly pronounce key phrases and words and identify them during the story.

  • The learner will make predictions about Jamal and Victor Brashov.

Duration:

 

    2 hours

 

Materials:

Activities:

  1. Teacher reviews Act 2 of "Who's the Boss" by calling on each learner to describe in chronological order something that happened in the first part of the story. Learners review pronunciation of Act 2 words and phrases.

  2. Learners practice pronouncing words and phrases in parts 1 and 2 of the Act 3 worksheet.

  3. Learners view Act 3 with sound off. Learners work individually to explain the plot of Act 3.

  4. Learners view Act 3 again, scene by scene with learners working in pairs to describe the dialogue in each scene. Learners share and discuss their descriptions with the class.

  5. Learners view Act 3 with vision on, sound on; class re-evaluates and shares descriptions.

  6. Learners work in pairs to write a paragraph describing an alternative outcome for one of the characters in the story. Learner pairs edit and re-write their paragraphs as needed and share with the class.

Assessment:

 

Teacher monitors verbal responses, checks written responses for comprehension and offering corrections to grammar as required.
