Crossroads Cafe: "Who's the Boss?" Act 2

Teacher reviews Act 1 of "Who's the Boss" by calling on each learner to describe in chronological order something that happened in the first part of the story. Learners review pronunciation of Act 1 words and phrases.

Learners practice pronouncing words and phrases in Part 1 of the Act 2 worksheet.

Learners listen to Act 2 with vision off. Learners work in pairs to summarize the plot and settings in Act 2. Learners share their summaries with the class.

Learners view Act 2 with vision on, sound on; class re-evaluates and shares summaries.

Learners complete parts 2 and 3 of worksheet individually.

Teacher runs video again, pausing at scenes that give learners opportunities to describe emotions from facial expressions and as a result of the actions of other characters (for example: Jamal talking to his old friends at the cocktail party and Victor Brashov waiting for a call from The Restaurant News.

Learners view "Culture Clip," comparing Jamal with real life professor-turned-pizza delivery person. Learners discuss how their experiences are similar/different.
Assessment:
Teacher monitors verbal responses, checks written responses for comprehension and offering corrections to grammar as required.
